![]() i really like the linear drawings because i like the energy and expression that they have because they really do have a strong message about the horrors of the WW1. i really liked the emotions and that eerie and disturbing appearances that his work creates. I really liked this artists and i was also influenced by him a I researched him for my trench coat project this year. So he moved away from social themes and to landscape and Christian subjects. He even became a target of the Nazis where his work became more dark and more symbolic in the early 1930’s. He also painted nudes, prostitutes and portraits of celebrities. ![]() This was because they had a cold, linear style of drawing which was realistic imagery, later became more fantastic and symbolic. His work explores Expressionism and Dada and was inspired by the trends of Italy and France. Then the human Characteristics are portrayed through gas masks and steel helmets. The dead in his art are distorted by the decomposition. Through his art he looked into the landscapes and trenches of war and the disfigured bodies. This haunted him because of the violence of warfare because of the bombs and guns. A fellow artist called Grosz looked into the shadows of modern society while dix stared into the abyss. Otto dix was important to the new objectivity style also known as Neue Sachlichkeit. He portrays the mechanized warfare and th e post –war of Berlin which shows the impressions of the Great War and Weimar society. Otto Dix was a German artist, painter and printmaker.
